Stuck for fun?
This is a list of the top 5 timeless entertainment for women.
It’s 1950 something. Winston Churchill has just been re-elected as Prime Minister of Great Britain and buckle-tab blouses are in fashion – everything is right in the world. Why? Because tonight’s the night, it’s date night.
At 17:00 you slowly begin to get ready – a scented bubble bath, a glass of wine, some music to set the mood. Butterflies fill your stomach as you think about the night ahead. You can’t wait. He’s taking you to dinner and then to see the latest musical showing at the theatre. It’s a dream come true.
Fast-forward a little. It’s 2000 and something. You’re going on a date. At 17:00 you slowly begin to get ready – a scented bubble bath, a glass of wine, some music to set the mood. Butterflies fill your stomach as you think about the night ahead. You can’t wait. See the pattern here? For decades and decades, women have enjoyed being wooed. Romantic dates that involve anything entertaining: music, movies, dancing – the list is endless, usually do the trick.
We’re not implying that a woman has needed a date with a dark, tall and handsome man in order to have a good time. On the contrary, many a great night have been had by women going out with girlfriends or co-workers, “girls nights” are becoming more and more popular.
We’ve done a little research into the different types of entertainment women have always, and will always enjoy. We asked a group of women ranging in age from 85 all the way to 18 what their favourite form of entertainment is, in other words, the different ways to have a good time that have stood the test of time:
It’s rare to find a woman who doesn’t enjoy a swirl on the dance floor. Be it tapping those heels to some jazz tracks, or be it boogying to some disco in the 80’s, most gals confessed to having a love for dancing. No matter who it’s with (barring any creeps on the dance floor).
This was evident across the board. As the oldest participant – an 85 year old put it: you can never be lonely when you have music.
Perhaps this is why music is, and always will be the perfect companion, no matter your mood.
Theater, opera and movies
This one came up – a lot. The older ladies recalled attending operas such as La Traviata in ballgowns made of silk and lace, while the younger generation gave the thumbs up to visiting the movie theater frequently. No matter the age, theater, opera and movies is one form of entertainment almost all women appreciate.
Be it solitaire, scrabble, 30 seconds or even Candy Crush, games are one way of ensuring your fully entertained. These women agreed that a games night is one of the best ways to meet new friends or reconnect with old ones. The younger generation told us that they would play the latest bingo games for hours on end as they enjoyed themselves with other online players. They admitted the the prospect of winning big bucks at the end didn’t hurt either.
Whether you’re more of an outgoing kind-of-gal, or if you enjoy staying in reading or playing a round of online bingo, we’re confident to say that this list of classic entertainment have proven time and again to be the most fun.
